I spent a good chunk of time learning about Git, as well as the broader concepts and advantages presented by decentralized version control systems, and it was time well spent. Beyond studying what it's all about, I installed the software and established a free single-user account on GitHub. Now that I have done all this, I can look forward to watching my non-techie friends' eyes glaze over as I discourse upon the nuanced merits of decentralized version control systems. Huzzah!
